The final communiqué of the e-career services symposium - held as part of the CDAA 2013 National Conference in May - has been completed and is now available to view here.
The communiqué has been structured to provide a distillation of key findings on the first two pages, for easy reference.
The communiqué also contains 14 recommendations spanning policy, practice and research, which set a compelling agenda for action.
CDAA has an important role, along with others, in progressing this agenda particularly in the realm of professional development. This will be part of the agenda at the next meeting of the CDAA Learning and Development Committee, and some of the brains behind the sympsium, Jaana Kettunen, Professor Jenny Bimrose and Tannis Goddard, will be presenting the symposium findings at the IAEVG conference in France. There will also be opportunities for further collaboration internationally.
Thank you to everybody who contributed to the final document and to making the symposium a success.

Symposium draft communiqué now available
After the success of the 'world-first' E-Career Service Symposium at the CDAA Conference in Sydney in May, we are pleased to let you know that the draft communiqué is now available for participants and others who are interested.
The communiqué provides an analysis of the three key themes the symposium addressed - policy, designing and research for practice - together with a summary of the collective contributions and conclusions of those present at the event. It has been prepared to inform stakeholders and to guide future actions.

It is now time to hear your feedback - the five great women behind the symposium, former CDAA President Carole Brown, Jenny Bimrose, Deirdre Hughes, Tannis Goddard and Jaana Kettunen, are keen to hear your thoughts on the document and would welcome your response by
August 26 via email. Responses can be directed to communications@cdaa.org.au.
Feedback will then be folded
into the final version for presentation at international and national forums
over the coming months. CDAA will also provide a specific response to the final
recommendations.
The draft communiqué can be accessed here.
We would like to thank all participants once again for attending and are looking forward to hearing your thoughts as we progress this document into the future.

Symposium presentations
The symposium - along with the 2013 National Conference -has come and gone and CDAA is thrilled with the attendance and feeback from the event.
When the idea of the symposium was born, organisers were hoping for about 40 registrations - it ended up being well over 100 and we could not be happier with the progress that was made and the conversations that were started.
A special shout-out goes to our lovely presenters who came to Sydney from all corners of this world and who really made the symposium the success it was.

Deirdre Hughes to join the symposium
You might have heard that one of our symposium presenters, Jenny Bimrose, had an unfortunate accident that led to a fractured hip, meaning that Jenny sadly will not be able to join us in Sydney.
We wish her well for a speedy recovery and thank her for her outstanding contribution to the symposium.
We are extremely lucky that we have been able to secure an outstanding replacement for Jenny - Dr Deirdre Hughes OBE, Associate Fellow at the Warwick Institute for Employment Research.
Please see a short biography of Deidre below:

She is a lead expert consultant on the European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network (ELGPN) on quality assurance and evidence-base for policy and systems development. She has a distinguished record as a leading academic, trainer and consultant in careers work.
